Hey Jill, Is there any chance you or someone else will be reporting the story of Rainer Klaus falling to the bottom of the DNF list for the GDR? Maybe it is better left to mystery, but if there is to be public coverage of an event, "sportscaster-style" as you put it, shouldn't it tell the whole story? Was it the section he was so worried about missing? I know you are not the ring leader here, but maybe you could pass this comment on... DNF on the blog, a frozen leader board with a finishing time, inclusion on the results page of the GDR?
Yeah. I was just the GDR "public relations" person for 2008. I have no say in the matter and also very little knowledge of what happened. All I know is a few different racers reported that Rainer cut the course in several spots, and based on their seperate stories, there was strong evidence that he did so delibratly - which is a automatic disqualification in GDR rules. Rainer reportedly didn't respond to a long line of e-mails, but after his name was removed from the final results on the blog (not by me), he did contact Pete and insists he played fair. So I don't believe it is a final ruling, but I am in your boat, waiting to see what happens. I feel sympathy for Rainer because he put in a great ride. But if he did intentionally cut the course - that's cheating.
Um, can I just say -
ReplyDeleteAh - hahahahaha.

Your grimace is priceless.
ReplyDeleteAt least you aren't stuck in Alabama, with 97+ degree temps and 100% muggy humidity. Plus people talk funny.....
ReplyDeleteOh, how I long to be in your shoes.
Take that expession, replace the backgound with a cityscape, and you've got an album cover. Busta Bikes: No Mo' rain.
